In Course of Acquisition is a project initiated by MAMCO on the occasion of Art Genève. Over the course of the fair’s five days, the museum carries out in situ acquisitions intended to enrich its collection.

The project makes visible a process usually kept discreet: MAMCO’s booth, entirely empty at the opening, gradually fills as works are discovered, selected, and acquired on site. Visitors can thus follow, in real time, the formation of a body of works destined to join the public collections—transforming the space into a living laboratory of museum acquisition.

Since its launch, In Course of Acquisition has enabled the integration of significant works into the museum’s collections, reflecting the diversity of artistic scenes represented at Art Genève and the dynamism of participating galleries. The project affirms MAMCO’s role within the artistic ecosystem—local and international—as an engaged institution attentive to artists, galleries, and collectors.
